About

Bio

If you’re looking for a traditionally-trained designer with limited imagination, inflexible approach, and little life experience outside fabrics swatches and measuring tapes, I’m not your girl.

If you’re looking for an innovative, think out-of-the box artist with boundless energy that can exceed your expectations, then… we need to talk.

The creative streak has always been there. I grew up in a house filled with music and art taking ballet and piano lessons by age six. Years flew by and I had a stint in the fashion industry and finally a passionate love affair with digital design. My true awakening took place when I dipped my toe into the waters of designing the interior and exteriors of my many homes. Then, I took on like-projects for my friends, then a few clients and voila!

Over the last few years, I’ve honed in on the training that would fine-tune and confirm my instincts and skills. You can read that obligatory resume at this link when you have a moment. But, enough about me. Let’s talk about you and what you want to see happen with that wonderful home you’re about to buy or are currently living in. Together, we can explore, dream, and collaborate to create a space that you’re going to love.

    Space Planning
Space planning is a fundamental element of the interior design process. It starts with an in-depth analysis of how the space is to be used. JH Designs’ staff will draw a plan that defines the zones/activities of the space, as well primary and secondary focal points. We take into consideration the circulation patterns of how people will move through the space. The plan is finished by adding details of all the furniture, equipment and hardware placement – even the floor outlets.

    Staging
Home staging is all about prepping your house so it will appeal to as many buyers as possible. It is a great approach to help increase the number of bids and chances of selling your home. This service can include changing out paint colors, adding new pictures and artwork, and bringing in furniture and accessories.

In contrast to hiring someone who specializes only in home staging, JH Designs is knowledgeable about building construction, remodeling, and structural details, etc. Ask about our broader range of services, such as complete overhauls (ripping out walls, installing new flooring) to simple color updates (paint, carpet, drapes, upholstery). We can offer minimal or elaborate recommendations and handle the entire process for you.

    A La Carte

One client may want the “whole enchilada”, whereas another client may want to order “a la carte”,, selecting individual sides from the menu. JH Designs will assist you in whatever design capacity you are in need of.
    Examples could include:

  • Space planning for a new home, so that you know what furniture to bring from your previous home, and what to purchase new.
  • Interfacing with your builder & architect so that you truly “get what you are looking for” in terms of functionality.
  • Window treatments and accessorizing for select rooms.
  • And more…
